iPhone status bar dimensions, measured

The clock, signal bars, Wi-Fi arc and battery, measured on a real 1179 px screenshot rather than eyeballed.

Last updated: 27 August 2026

On an iPhone 14 Pro (393 × 852 pt, 1179 × 2556 px), the status bar occupies the top 59 pt and the home indicator the bottom 34 pt. At full 1179 px resolution the clock sits at x = 150, the signal bars span x = 846–903, Wi-Fi x = 926–976, and the battery x = 999–1074 with a 5 px cap.

Why these numbers are hard to find

Apple publishes safe-area insets, not glyph geometry. Design kits approximate the icons, and the approximations are usually wrong in the same way: signal bars too narrow, the Wi-Fi drawn as three stroked arcs instead of two filled crescents and a wedge, and the battery drawn as an outline when it is a filled pill with the number knocked out of it.

Everything below was measured pixel by pixel on a native screenshot, at the resolution the device actually produces.

The glyphs, at 1179 px wide

Horizontal positions are measured from the left edge of the screen; vertical ones from the top. All three glyphs share a common baseline at y = 105.

Signalx 846–90358 × 374 bars, 10 px wide, 6 px apart

Signal bars

Four bars, each exactly 10 px wide with a 6 px gap — so a 16 px pitch — all bottom-aligned at y = 105. Their heights climb 14, 21, 29 and 37 px. Corner radius is about 3 px. Bars that are too thin or evenly spaced by eye are the fastest way to make a mockup look wrong without anyone being able to say why.

Wi-Fi

Not three stroked arcs. It is two filled crescents with tapered ends, plus a small downward-pointing wedge at the bottom — the tip of the fan, not a dot. The outer crescent is about 7 px thick at its centre.

Battery

A rounded pill roughly 76 × 41 px, filled from the left in proportion to the charge, with the remaining portion in the same colour at about 38 % opacity. When the percentage is shown it is knocked out of the fill in the background colour, centred on the body — not drawn on top. The cap is a separate 5 px nub, also at reduced opacity.

Converting to another canvas. Divide by 1179 and multiply by your width. On our 923 px canvas the factor is 0.78287: the signal block becomes 45.4 px wide, Wi-Fi 39.9, the battery 59.5, and the right margin falls at 77 px.

The status bar in an App Store screenshot

Apple does not require a specific clock, but the convention is 9:41 — the time shown when the first iPhone was announced. A full battery and full signal are also conventional: a screenshot showing 14 % battery reads as a snapshot of someone's bad day rather than a product shot.

Build the screen instead of describing it

My Larp Wallet composes a wallet mockup in the browser and exports it at 1179 × 2556 px — the native resolution these figures describe. One plan, $19/month.
